Fiskars Village Biennale

Fiskars Village Biennale

The inaugural Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale hosted in 2019 will offer visitors many art and design events, exhibitions and activities.

The biennale is open 19 May - 15 September 2019, in venues and outdoor settings within Fiskars Village, and consists of three curated exhibitions and a series of parallel programs. We will be participating with many events as part of the parallel program.

ART: The contemporary art section is curated by Jenni Nurmenniemi and will explore a challenge of human existence: how can one become better at living together and dealing with difference? The Beings with exhibition will feature Finnish and international artists showing their work across two venues: the Threshing House and the Granary. For more information view the biennale website.

DESIGN: Curated by Jasper Morrison the Designed to be shared exhibition will showcase the response of 18 designers to a brief to design and build a bench. Set in outdoor locations around Fiskars Village to form a trail, the benches are meant to be shared by visitors and residents. For more information view the biennale website.

FACTORY: The Factory exhibition is the 2019 annual exhibition held by Onoma and curated by Anniina Koivu. It is located in the Copper Smithy and includes a selection of local and invited creative practitioners who will explore the notion of the contemporary factory and its evolving character. For more information view the exhibition website.

PARALLEL: the parallel program is made up of a diverse collection of creative and cultural events, talks and exhibitions which are held in venues across the village. For more information about the events, including the ones we are hosting, please view the program
